GovTech’s recent article about the growth of artificial intelligence-powered chatbots couldn’t have hit closer to home for Citibot. Serge Leontiev, a public sector innovation lead at Oracle, spoke about the value of AI fueled technology recently at the 2017 New York City Technology Forum, which was recapped in the article.

Leontiev vocalized the power behind the proper use of AI and how it can result in a government’s ability to provide higher-grade service to its constituents.

In addition, he showcased the disadvantages of app-based communication platforms, which is something we discovered when we originally conceived of our bot. To operate Citibot, you don’t need to download or install anything… the only thing you need to do is simply send a text message. And since 50% of Americans did not download one app last year, when it comes to citizen engagement, we do not want to miss out of 50% of our citizens!

Citibot’s simple build is one step closer to increasing government proactivity while also creating an upward path for AI inspired chatbots, nationwide.
