CITIBOT IN SAVANNAH
Citibot recently had the opportunity to travel to Savannah, GA for the 85th Annual Convention of the Georgia Municipal Association (GMA). The conference was held at the International Trade and Convention Center on the beautiful Savannah River.
The GMA Annual Convention provides a platform for city officials from across the state to gather and engage in meaningful conversations about their cities. Training classes are offered on a wide range of topics, covering everything from public safety to crowdfunding to planning and zoning.
Larry Hanson, Executive Director of GMA, kicked off the five-day conference with his opening remarks and the Parade of Municipal Flags. Then keynote speaker Celeste Headlee, host of On Second Thought, author of Having Conversations that Matter, and contributor for Georgia Public Broadcasting, took to the stage to rally the crowds and jump start a wonderful weekend.
This was a milestone event for Citibot, as we got to debut our brand-new conference booth and bring the whole Citibot team out on the road.
We had the pleasure of meeting some incredible people from across the state who had a genuine passion for serving their communities. These individuals came from all walks of life and many worked full-time jobs in addition to their public service positions. Their unwavering dedication to their communities was an inspiration to our team and reminded us why we do what we do.
We spent all of Sunday at the Exhibition Hall, where we met and interacted with people from several counties, including the fine folks from Vidalia, Gainesville, Perry, Commerce, Chamblee, Lenox, and Milton.
When we weren’t attending scheduled events and meeting fellow attendees, we had the chance to explore more of what our neighboring city has to offer. Some of our highlight spots included visiting Greentruck Neighborhood Pub, Six Pence Pub, and the Rooftop Bar at the Bohemian Hotel Savannah Riverfront.
We left Savannah feeling inspired and energized. The GMA Annual Conference was the perfect tee-up for the National Association of Counties event that we are headed to next in Nashville. We are excited to see what Music City has in store for us this month - be sure to follow our blog and social media channels for updates!
