IT STARTS WITH A SIMPLE HELLO

“When is trash day? When does City Hall close? Where can I get a business license?”

These answers and more are now a quick ‘hello’ text message away for citizens in North Charleston, South Carolina. In July of 2017, the City of North Charleston launched Citibot as a way for its residents to get responses to city-related questions. In addition, citizens can now report or crowdsource city problems ranging from missed trash pickups, broken street signs or potholes in need of repair.

Many of North Charleston’s 110,000 citizens are using Citibot to connect with the city since its launch date.

Some fast facts since launch include:

  • 82.7% increase in crowdsourced city issues

  • 250% increase in potholes fixed

  • 94% increase in efficiency of handling customer service requests

  • 2.5X more cases reported through Citibot vs. website

The potential for the relationship between Citibot and North Charleston is untapped. We’re excited to watch this city grow its citizen engagement and continue to open the lines of communication between elected officials and their constituents.

With inspired city employees using Citibot technology, North Charleston will become an even greater place to live, work and play.
